The
Old Man in the Tree by Diane Hein
Look very carefully and you will see
Two eyes, a mouth, an old man in the tree.
He's in a small woods by a nearby church
His limbs for birds can still provide a perch.
What secrets does he hold within his trunk
Years he grew up sleeping without a bunk.
He looked so alone at very first glance
Until a butterfly flew by to dance.
